Day Neutral/Everbearing

Albion

Day neutral everbearing cultivar that was recently released by the University of California. Albion has shown resistance to Verticillium wilt (Verticillium dahliae) and Phytophthora crown rot (Phytophthora cactorum). Fruit is typically long, conical and very symmetrical. Fruit has outstanding flavor and attractive internal and external fruit color. Albion is currently the #1 planted public variety in California.

Monterey
Moderate day neutral variety recently released from the University of California. Monterey is a vigorous plant with a good disease resistance profile, but is susceptible to powdery mildew. The fruit from Monterey is slightly larger than Albion, but less firm fruit. Production has viewed as slightly lower than Albion. This variety has an outstanding flavor, with a very unique sweet aftertaste.

San Andreas

Moderate day neutral variety recently released from the University of California. San Andreas produces high quality fruit early in the season. Plant vigor of San Andreas is slightly higher than Albion early in the season. This variety produces few runners and has overall good disease resistance. The fruit size and flavor is similar to Albion.

Seascape

Seascape was developed by the University of California as a cross between two popular varieties, Selva and Douglas. The variety bears large fruit with excellent flavor. This productive variety initiates fruiting in the late spring and continues with typically high production into the fall. Each cluster produces one extra-large berry. Variety doesn’t need much chill to set fruit, so it is suited for warmer climates. Variety has overall good disease resistance but has demonstrated susceptibility to common leaf spot.

June Bearing

Camarosa

Early, short day variety that produces very large conical fruit with exceptionally high yields. This variety has excellent internal and external fruit color. Moderately rain tolerant. This variety has performed well in southern climates and southern California.

Chandler

Short-day variety that is widely planted in the winter months in southern California as well as the Central Valley. Very high yielding variety that bears large colorful fruit. Chandler is widely known for it’s exceptional flavor. This variety has shown some adaptability to the east coast and southern regions.

Totem

Totem is a classic Pacific Northwest June Bearing variety. The fruit is firm, conic and bright red. The fruit can turn very dark when ripe. Totem will perform well in very cold climates, although it can start to bloom a bit early. It is extremely hardy and disease resistant. Totem is especially sensitive to alkaline soils.

Valley Red

Valley Red is a newer high-yielding June Bearing variety suited for the Pacific Northwest. The fruit is medium sized, very attractive and uniform in shape and size. The variety has similar productivity as Totem, but the crop ripens a bit earlier.
